Saved me after Hurricane Omar
I bought this generator several months ago on a whim at Cost U Less in St. Croix where I live. I figure that if a Hurricane hit us it may be useful to have backup power. This proved to be one of the best purchases I ever made. On Wednesday night into early Thursday we got hit with Hurricane Omar, a Category 3 storm. After the storm we had no power. My basement apartment that is occupied by a tenant was flooded. I fired up this little 2 stroke generator and plugged my wet vac into it. It worked great, it could handle the load the 3HP wet vac put on it (this is only a 2HP generator, we gained an entire horse :)). Within an hour and a half her apartment was cleaned up pretty good. That night we still had no power. I was able to power up my 47" LCD TV, Satellite Box, DSL modem, and Linksys router off of it. I got about 6 hours with this load on 1 gallon of oil/fuel mixture....not bad. The next night we still had no power so my wife added her laptop to...
Useless machine
Purchase first one, came damaged during shipping and doesn't work. I called Amazon and they shipped out second one and I have to pull it like 20 times just to start it up! When it FINALLY does work, it seems like it is going to stop again - It just keeps stalling. Only works for like 15 minutes and then just stops again. In the end, I had to call the manufacturer who promised me that they will refund my purchase. As of this date, I have still not received my refund.

Good for the money, dont expect perfection(READ made in china).
As with buying anything made in china, you take a risk on whether or not it will be quality. Of course, someone has to take these risks to let others know what to expect. What you get when you buy this is, a 800 watt continuous 2 stroke generator. Nothing else in this description can you take to heart, its almost all lies(china). First of all, you can make this as quiet as a $2000 honda gen for about $40, if you want to put some time in by checking things, fixing a few things(not that they were broke, more of piece of mind) If you dont want to do any of that, stop here, dont buy this, go spend thousands on a little honda, and be done with it. If you have some skills, and patience, continue reading. -You must first remember mix gas + oil with this, or it will die quickly. -You must then remember to start a little rich(more oil than needed) to seat the mechanical parts in. Id run a tank of gas(rich) with no load thru it to get the engine and...
Time limit
I got this generator for Mother's day to take camping. Started great and powered all I needed for about 2 hours. It just slowly died and would not start again. I followed all the guidelines in the very short users manual. After it sat for about 2 hours started right up and ran another 2 hours. Died again, same story. I like the size and portability. Is anyone else having the same problem?
Portable Generator
Just got this so more to check out, but here's the good news. Out of the box, fueled, choke set and two pulls - it started right up. After it warmed up one pull worked over and over for starting. Plugged in a couple of appliances and everything worked fine. The generator weighs about 41 pounds and my wife could easily move it around. It is a little loud (about like an idling lawn mower) but I knew that before I bought it. It will be used for camping and as I said, so far so good.
Portable, Compact and Functional
Purchased this generator for light use while using tent camper in unimproved camping areas. Unit functions perfectly as long as you don't overload it with higher wattage requirements than designed for. Definitely, know what your intended use will be before buying. A little louder than expected but, starts easily and, after warmup, runs very smooth. Great price for product and time will tell how it holds up.
Powered by Champion 80cc OHV Engine with Cast Iron Sleeve. (CARB - California approved)
Runs for 10 hours on full tank of gas at 50% load.

Worked...for an hour
I purchased this for my father in law. We put some Mobile 1 in it, followed the directions setting it up perfectly. He took it on a camping trip, started it up, but it died an hour later. After several emails and calls to the company we finally got a full refund. Purchased a Honda instead, but at almost $1000 more. If this worked it would be an excellent deal.

Hurricane Irene
I ordered this on thursday 25 Aug 2011 I got it the next day, as all the stores such as lowes and home Depot where out of generators. Hurricane irene will be here sometime tonight so i wanted to have lighting and a few things powered up. I added oil to this great looking litte gas saving generator,. I ran it for about an hour last night and it was very very quiet. It only has one duplex receptacle but I can at least power the TV , charge cell phones and with any luck the window ac. My only regret is i should have bought the 3650 Watt unit from this same company before they sold out.
Tank size in product description is wrong; problems with documentation
Be aware that the production description for this item is incorrect. It says a large 3.3 gallon tank, but it is really only a 1.3 gallon tank. I received my unit yesterday (5 stars to FedEx, the delivery guy told us he wasn't supposed to deliver it until late in the day on his rotation but he saw it on the truck and thought we'd need it as early as possible, and he was right!), and it is clearly marked as a 5 Liter unit, which is 1.3 gallons. I found the unit could drive my fridge and a few lights for about 5 hours before needing refueling. Also we found the instructions backwards for the use of the choke; it says to start with the choke in the closed position and then move it open as the engine warms up, but just the opposite is required. Finally, the manual has the wrong spark plug type listed in it, so if you have to replace the spark plug, make sure to take the original with you to match. We added too much oil at the start and had to replace the...

Well made unit
I buy a new generator every year. This had been one of the best units I've bought. In use I average 600 watts constant. This gen will run 8hrs on less than a gallon of gas. Starts after a few pulls (cold weather) and runs smooth.
great value
This generator is a great value for the price. I had a little difficulty getting it started when it first arrived, but as soon as I noticed the rubber fuel line was crimped, and trimmed the line a little, it started right up. I use this generator regularly to power a pitching machine, shop vac, etc. It is reliable and has a very good run time before needing refuel. Other generators might be a little lighter and maybe quieter, but this is an outstanding value.

Inexpensive relief for power outages
I've only used it once so far, but it ran like a champ, and it's not too noisy. And, it's CARB compliant, which I had to have living in California. That tends to run up the price of a generator. I had a little trouble getting it to run steadily until I figured out the choke. It is a heavy little monster- 55 lbs in a very small package- not heavy enough to require wheels, so you have to lift it by the handle. I was worried about using it to power my electronics (DSL modem, router, computer), but I emailed the company for advice and received a response in about 24 hours. Good support. They recommended using a line conditioner for sensitive electronics. As it turns out, the voltage coming out of mine is a bit high. If you want to power electronics, be sure to buy a line conditioner or voltage stabilizer along with it. I got a voltage stabilizer here on Amazon for $24. Do be aware of the fact that 1200 watts is not a lot of power. You won't...

Very Disappointed
I bought this with great expectations and was very disappointed. The package showed up at my door dented and then when I opened up the package there were pieces of plastic all over and bits and pieces were broken. It started up easily the first time after some tinkering and then it just turned over the next few times I tried starting, without ever getting going again.

Testing out the new Salina 48 Evolution
30.09.11
Charles Darwin’s famous theory of natural selection and evolution was based on the premise that a species either adapts to the demands of the environment or dies out. Mother Nature makes this possible by ensuring different traits crop up from time to time. Those traits - such as skin colour - can increase a particular animal’s chance of survival so it has a higher chance of living to breeding age and passing those traits on.
French manufacturer Fountaine Pajot is applying that theory to its boats in a slightly more business-like way, tweaking models in response to feedback and releasing a new version a couple of years down the track. The new versions have the same name but with the addition of the word “Evolution”.
The Salina 48 Evolution is the tweaked version of the 48 Roger Priest reviewed in CH in October 28. There are only a few changes, and these are largely aesthetic rather than major structural ones. However, they do improve the boat.
