Offers great flexibility but...
We purchased this generator to power a sump pump at a building that has no electricity. Having a generator that runs on propane allows it to run for much longer than typical gas generators. Cost of operation is about the same as gas generators as best as we can tell. The only problem experienced to date is we have had difficulty getting it started. We changed the spark plug and that has helped somewhat, but we still have to use ether to get it started most of the time. We are waiting on Buffalo Tools to get us the local service repair shop so we can bring it in for warranty repair. Unit is just 2 weeks old.

Easy start
Received generator two days after I ordered. Very fast shipping! Unpacked it, put in the oil, hooked up the propane, choked the carburetor, and pulled three times before I remembered to turn the valve on the gas tank. Fired right off the first time after that. Subsequent starts were just as easy. One pull only. It ran my saws and drills with no problems. I hope it lasts, because the engine manufacturer is unknown to me, and I know nothing about the valves, bearings, etc. So far, though, it has been a really sweet little generator.

Propane is the Way 2 Go !!!
It was delivered, took it out the box, added 20 oz 10W-30 as required, hooked up LPG tank and that baby fired up on the 3rd pull. Then I plugged in a "kill-a-watt" meter and read about 125vac @ 63hz.... this is good for me, because I would rather have slightly more voltage/power rather than not enough. Then I plugged in a full-size refrigerator and ran for 1 hour while using a 1/2 inch 7amp drill & recipricating saw. Handled all loads like a warrior. As far as portability, I simply sat my generator onto a mover's dolly so I can roll it around most of the time & only have to lift when putting on my trailer. BE CAREFUL, the choke lever is plastic and VERY FRAGILE !!! Keep that in mind whenever you get ready to toggle between choke & run. I bought this generator to be prepared for this year's Hurricane season, but I will use it often since it is so easy to operate & maintain. Oh yea, I got mine from Home Depot for same price but who cares, its...

Impressive so far
Got this generator today to be prepared in the event of a power outage at home and for emergency power for the camper, where we will likely end up if the electricity goes out for more than a few hours during the hot West Tennessee summer. Opted for a propane model because it probably won't get a lot of use and I didn't want to have to deal with gasoline storage or fuel gelling issues. Assembly took about 20 minutes--you will need a 12mm socket (instructions say 10mm), adjustable crescent wrench and 5mm Allen wrench. It started easily and has enough juice to run the RV's 13,500 BTU AC unit even on the standard household-type outlet. Voltage on the meter in the RV showed right at 120, with some slight wavering of the needle. I have ordered a Conntek RV Generator Adapter with 30 Amp 4 Prong Twist Lock Male Plug To RV 30 Amp Female Connector from Amazon in order to be able to take advantage of the generator's full output because one of the genset breakers tripped when I tried to extend...

A few gotcha items
I've been waiting for my electrician to wire up an outside, 220V outlet so I can use this generator to power up selected circuits in my house during a power outage... so I actually haven't powered it up yet! But I have made a couple of observations (below) that might be helpful for deciding whether to purchase this generator. I will update the review later after firing it up.First the good:1) Delivery (by contract trucking firm) was very efficient2) Assembly was easy - even for one person (a second person would have been handy to hold up end while attaching wheels)3) Seems to be well-builtNow the gotchas;4) Instructions recommend running generator for 30 minutes.... once a week! at half rated load you will use up the propane tank in 18 weeks and, since you can't top off a propane tank (well, you can if you are willing to pay for a full tank), this weekly run will leave you with less run time in a power loss...

good concept
This machine has many good points including propane, nice mobility with the cart and good performance. It is some what heavy and bit hard to start. (pull start) You would need some strength to move and start it. This will eliminate some users. I have used it the last 4 days after the recent storm and it performed well. The propane use is a plus for me. The only hesitation would be the mobility and difficulty to start for some people. This is made in China.

A good generator
I needed a generator to run my electric yard tools at a remote site. After lots of research I settled on this one, and I'm glad I did. It's simple, clean, and provides enough power to run a 12 amp mover, a 14 amp chain saw, and all my other yard tools. It has one AC outlet, which is enough for my simple needs. (I run only one high-amp tool at a time.) It also has one DC outlet. Since I use the generator infrequently, I wanted one that requires little maintenance. I opted for the propane engine. Another good (lucky) choice. It's also pretty quiet, and light enough to easily move around. As for the product description, it could be better. For example, it states that it's a 2000 watt machine. At surge power it is. It's running wattage is 1350, and that information is missing from the description. It would also be good if the description listed its peak Amp output. Although, that's pretty easy to calculate when you know the watts. I had no previous...

Very poor customer service from buffalo tools
I use generators often. I was interested in this because LP is much more convenient. I found that that the unit did not produce the claimed 2000 peak 1300 watt continuous rating. In fact it could not power the tools my 1000 watt Honda can. I called their tech support people and found them completely untrained and unfamiliar with the product. I was told to adjust the carburetor even though the carburetor has no adjustments. They admitted that his was a new product and they are not familiar with it. The technical people handle everything from hand tools to spray guns. They are not engine /generator experts, not even close. Buy this from someone who can service it. Do not count on the Buffalo tool for service. The Honda is much quieter and has more output but costs much more. In this case you get what you pay for. Buffalo should not be allowed to claim that their unit puts out 2000 watts.

Saved the day
I bought this at the end of winter to replace my old gasoline powered one after it wouldn't start (due to the ethanol in the gas gumming up the engine) during an ice storm. I was planning to be prepared for this coming winter. I never imagined I would be using it a few months later when a tornado whipped through our neighborhood and county just before Memorial Day. We were fortunate and only without power for 4 days, but this generator came through with flying colors. I hadn't even taken it out of the box and really wasn't at all prepared for this storm. I didn't have the battery in yet so we had to manually pull start. I have neck issues but it wasn't that difficult and started quickly each time. The brochure says you will get around 8 hours on a half load, ...NOT. Try figuring on 4 to 5. Didn't seem to matter what we ran that was the average. At $20 bucks a little 20lb bottle we got into a rhythm of running it noon to 5pm for the heat of the day and again at night 10pm to 3am for...

Great Generator! Excellent Price!
This generator was purchased through an Amazon partner(CSN) arrived ahead of schedule and in perfect shape thanks to R+L Carriers! I did not have a battery on hand yet to use the electric starter but the pull rope worked very well! After connecting it to the propane, it took about 3 pulls to start for the first time and it ran perfectly. The choke handle is kind of flimsy, but we didn't need to use it. It is a bit louder than I expected, but I don't have prior experience with a generator to compare it to. The assembly directions are not as easy as they could be, so it took a few extra minutes to figure out how to attach the handle and wheels, etc. That was not a big problem though. We plugged in several small items to see how they would do and it had no trouble running them. We decided to get the 30 pound(7 1/2 gallons) cylinder of propane for this just to add a little more run time than I could get with a grill sized cylinder and will probably buy 1 more cylinder...

Propane generator
I love this generater more then any I have had before . I have had 5. For a non permanent generator it is perfect. I purchased a 30lb can of propane for it and I start it once a month. It starts first pull and hits on the first turn with the electric starter. Can't wait for the power to go out so I can use it. I have used it to run out door lights, drills, saws and chargers. Easy to move around and I built a table to house it off the patio. Not too big and not to small.

You get what you pay for, but it's still a bargain
The generator arrived with the plastic air cleaner cover severely cracked. This seemed to be due to a somewhat flimsy/unprotected part, but primarily rough shipping. It is unlikely to get damaged during normal use. Anyway, a quick call to Amazon directed me to the manufacturer. The manufacturer Parts Dept offered to send me a replacement for free, and two weeks later it arrived. Fortunately, it was pretty easy to install, because the parts diagram in the owner manual is like a bad copy of a fax, and doesn't depict the air cleaner assembly anyway. I hooked it up to an LPG tank and followed the instructions for a cold start in the manual, although the language was somewhat confusing (e.g. it took me a while to figure out that the "resistance air valve handle" referred to the choke.) After pulling the start handle multiple times, the best I could do was get it to run for maybe a second. Thinking I might have "flooded" the engine, I endeavored to remove the spark plug (the...

Good value, would recomend, two things to be aware of
This is a very good value given competitors offerings. I have used it for about 2 hours, mostly to break in the engine, it starts well, runs quietly and smoothly, and seems to be very well designed and built. Two things worth pointing out: 1) this is a single pole generator, that means 120 volt only, no 240 volt capability. This seems to be incorrectly stated in the description as "(1)120/240 volts 14-20R", where in fact this has a "(1) 120 volt L5 30R". If you want things like deep well pumps to work, they probably won't as most are 240 volt. This can be verified by zooming in on the enlarged photo that Amazon provides (click on the photo of the generator, in the new window zoom in on the receptacles and volt meter) 2) this unit weighs about 100 lbs and does not come with a wheel kit (as advertised, a hand truck solves this nicely). If you want to use this for emergency power backup, check your generator transfer panel to insure it is...

Frozen But With Electricity in Kentucky
I don't know what inspired me to purchase this generator, other than having shopped for one casually for a while, but my timing was impeccable. We just had a massive ice storm in Kentucky that decimated power lines with fallen tree limbs layered with inches of thick ice. This generator came on the 6th day without electricity. I added oil to the generator, cranked it up and ran it for 4 days (12-14 hours per day). I couldn't be more pleased. Since all the gas stations within a reasonable distance were closed, using propane was an excellent alternative. I did break the plastic choke lever upon initial use, but I found I never had to use it - and if I ever do there is enough left to allow me to choke the engine. Regardless, I didn't buy it for wheels but to provide electricity and it has done so in an admirable manner soldiering on (as I said) for 4 days. I wish I had bought this earlier. It is the best priced and powered LPG/Propane generator that is available. If you need one - and who...

This season's 'must-have' accessory: Generator sales, permits are hot, hot, hot!

01.01.70

What do a pound of deli ham and portable generators have in common?

If you want to buy either, take a number and get in line.

After two major storms in close succession — Tropical Storm Irene and the snow-bearing nor'easter — generators are the "must have" accessory in the region and have been flying off local dealers' shelves.

With Irene being such a huge storm, it is likely demand for generators surged all along the East Coast.

Easton's building inspector, Bill Martin, said there's been a definite spike in the number of generator permits requested from his department since Irene and the snow-bearing nor'easter.

"Some electricians come in here with two or three at a time," he said, "and I must answer questions six or seven times a day about generators."

While the building department does not keep track of the total number of generator permits issued in town, Mr. Martin recently said he estimates 30 new permits have been issued since the nor'easter in October, in addition to about 10 after Irene.
