Beats the Honda hands down
Good: Can run 12+ hours on a 3 gallon tank of gas. Very clean voltage without the radio frequency hash which you find on a Honda inverter generator. This generator can run my natural gas furnace, some lights, small TV and my main refrigerator without missing a beat. I briefly unplug the refrig. when I want to run my Mr. Coffee. This generator is liftable by one guy. Fits inside a standard car trunk with room to spare. Excellent build quality unlike the junk generators you see at the hardware stores. The Yamaha is much cheaper than the Honda equivalent. So so: About as loud as your typical lawn mower. Limitations: Oil fill is a little hard to get to. Not enough power to run my clothes washer or NG clothes dryer but that's no surprise. 12 volt output has a higher voltage than specified so I'll use my 12 volt auto battery charger if I need to charge batterys. A Great Low Cost High Power Inverter Generator
I purchased this product last fall to be used in the mountains with my trailer in a membership camp ground. Several other units are in close proximity, so I was concerned with noise. This is a GREAT unit. Quiet and runs about 11 hours on 5 gallons of gas and starts on the first pull every time. It has an economy mode which is adequate for most day time uses and is so quiet it can barely be heard inside the unit. When microwaves, air conditioners and other more power hungry devices are used, it automatically accelerates. Tne noise level is higher, and can be heard up to 40 feet from the trailer but it still is relatively quiet. The unit is very light, about 60 pounds, so it is easy to handle by the elderly. I purchased this unit on the recommendation of a camp ground neighbor, who is about 60 feet away. He has been using it for several years and I never ever heard it running.

Would not hold load
Unit delivered in Yamaha box. Easy setup and startup. Attempted to register generator warranty prior to use. Generator would not hold load. Taken unit to local Yamaha service center. Contacted Yamaha Corporation regarding problem. Yamaha Corporation advised unit, based on serial number, was sold "AS IS" without warranty. Purchased through Amazon.com

Yamaha 2400ISHC
I wanted to take the time to review the Yamaha EF2400ISHC so I might help someone decide which generator to buy if you are on the fence in buying the Honda EU2000I or the above Yamaha like I was. I bought and currently own both. The short answer to the above question is either unit is a great choice. I would rate either of them 5 stars. Each is suited for a particular function and each has their drawbacks. Here are some of my observations on each unit: Yamaha Pros: * More watts and amps than the Honda. The Yamaha is "rated" at 16.7 amps with "rated" surge capability to 20 amps. Very useful when trying to start electric motors such as a freezer compressor or and A/C unit. Hayes Equipment Company tested the Yamaha 2400 on a load bank and it held a 30 amp (not a typo, 30 amp) surge for 10 seconds, this is how the unit is advertised to start newer 13,500 BTU A/C units in RV's. The 10 second surge is enough power to start the compressor until the running wattage...

Outstanding Generator
I have now owned my Yamaha EF2400is for 4 years and it has served me well. Here in western Washington we get some serious windstorms that knock out power for days. This generator runs and runs, automatically adjusting to changes in load, and does it quietly. With a light load, this generator will run for 9 hours before you need to refill it, which means a night of uninterrupted sleep. Put in some gas, pull the handle once or twice and you are good to go. I highly recommend this product.

Perfect Generator
I have both the Honda 2000i and just recently bought this Yamaha 2400i. The Honda is nice and portable, whereas this Yamaha is a little larger & heavier, however the Honda WILL NOT run my A/C on my travel trailer, this Yamaha WILL run my A/C & Refrigerator at same time. I have no complaints what so ever with this generator. This Yamaha makes exact same amount of noise as my Honda so do not think because its bigger it will be louder as it is not.

Plenty of power
I purchased this generator from a local camper dealer about 3 years ago so we could camp in the parking lot at our kids colleges. The electric start is a nice feature and if I was to buy another one I would get it with the remote START/STOP feature. I found a place that I can order it to add to mine. There is enough power to run one AC, any lights you want, TV, water pump all at the same time. Fuel consumption is very low. I haven't clocked the hours per tank, but we take it to a state part in Connecticut where there is no power at all and can get through 3 or 4 days on a tank full. There is also a option to add a propane fuel supply. This is also one of the quietest generators I have heard in the campgrounds. You can stand right beside the unit and have a normal conversation. I wish Yamaha would make a model to install in my 5er so I didn't have to load it into the truck. It's a bit heavy so I am going to add a hoist to my garage to help with the loading now that the kids are no...

Excellent Generator
I am very happy with this generator, does everything I hoped for, and more. The hardest part was installing the battery, made me nervous filling battery with acid. But, following the instructions it went without a hitch. I thought they forgot to include the battery strap since it was not on the battery when I took it out of generator. But, I found it lying in the battery compartment way in the back. So check if you do not see yours, it is a rubber strap. Adding the oil is a little tricky, I bought a funnel that twist around for the job. The motor wants to RUN..... after gassing up I hardly pulled the cord and it took off. I let it run for 30 minutes to charge the battery. I shut it off, and restarted it using battery power, again it took off like a shot. In the mean time I installed a transfer switch on my furnace, a couple days later. Testing the generator on the furnace I hooked up the generator, again it took off like a shot. It ran my furnace with no labor what so ever. I am ready...

Yamaha EF3000iSE 3,000 Watt Generator
I highly recommend this product. I got this generator after Hurricanes Frances & Jeanne hit our state, knocked out our power for 10 days. The first generator I got out of desperation, it was hot and we lost a refrigerator full of food...this generator was horribly loud & I knew it would be a matter of time before the neighbors complained. Thankfully I was able to sell it the following day and I immediately ordered 2- Yamaha 3000 generators, I own a duplex so the neighbor had to get one too. Wow, what a huge difference! Even with 2 generators going at once it was much quieter than my vacuum cleaner. I was able to connect my refrigerator, TV, a standing lamp and a window AC (5,000watt) unit for nighttime use. When Jeanne hit everyone in Lighthouse Point FL seemed to have purchased those ear busting generators! Needless to say I am very happy and pleased with my Yamaha generators.
