EF2000is review - high quality and very quiet
I have had this for about a month. This is a very high quality unit, nicely designed. I chose it over the Honda Eu2000i because it has a fuel gage and is a hair lighter (2 pounds), and liked the styling better. Specs are so close it's a tie... the Yamaha unit specs a bit quieter in "eco" throttle but the Honda specs a bit quieter at full power. Prior to this purchase I had bought a Honeywell inverter generator (a much less expensive Chinese-made knock-off) from Costco which I returned, because I was unimpressed with the Honeywell unit's quality and noise level. While the price difference is major, you get what you pay for in this case. Anyone looking at the cheaper knock-offs should really consider that a 5db increase in noise level is about twice as loud, the way humans perceive it. The most impressive thing about this unit is how quiet it is. Even at full engine speed you can stand about 6 feet away and have a normal conversation without raising your voice, or...

Awesome Quiet Little Inverter-Generator!
I purchased the EF2000iS 2,000 watt inverter-generator for extended fishing trips for charging 12 volt marine batteries and for running corded power tools in remote areas. At first I wasn't sure if the 2,000 watt model would be enough power to meet my needs, but I decieded to take a chance with it because of the price, and boy am I glad I did. It easily powers drills, grinders, skill saws, table saws, sawzalls, and portable cement mixers - pretty much anything that draws under 16.7 Amps. Most power tools draw up to and under 15 Amps. My industrial right-angle concrete drill only draws 8 Amps, and that thing is rugged. It's more than enough for my needs for working in the woods where I can't just "Plug In." Another thing that's slick about it is it also charges marine batteries and has its own special DC receptical and comes with the included cable. You just fire it up, hook up the terminals to your battery, then plug in the cord. It doesn't have a charge...
Super quiet and CARB compliant
This generator is super quiet and the engine runs really smoothly. It instantly changes it's operating speed just as fast as I can move the speed switch on a 1850 watt hair dryer I used to test it. It doesn't include oil and the angle of the oil fill hole is nearly horizontal, making it a little difficult to fill even with a funnel, but they did put a nice little drip tray right below the opening so it doesn't go everywhere. The gas gauge is really nice. Made in Japan. Their competitor (Honda) has some nice videos on their website demonstrating the sound level of actual generators running and the equivalent size Honda generator is very close in noise level to this one. Yamaha should do the same but until then, check out the Honda website. Yamaha says this is CARB compliant on their website so I'm not sure why Amazon says it isn't. The label on the generator says it is a 3 on the 10 point California emission scale. Yamaha simply isn't making a big deal of it like...

A quiet, powerful generator for multiple uses
I've used these with friends camping and been absolutely amazed. This model has a number of positives about it. Yamaha has produced small, reliable generators for over 15 years. My big plusses: 1 - REALLY quiet. The engine drives basically just an alternator and produces about 12V, though it varries. When there is a small load on the generator (typical of most camping / outdoor uses) it slows down the engine. This not only makes it quiet, it cuts back on fumes, and saves gas. A tank filling can last half a day easily depending on demand. 2 - clean power. Because the alternator is outputting a DC voltage into a sinewave inverter your 110 VAC is comming from one of the best sources. I use inverters in many of my service vehicles, right at 1000W, and have found no situation where that was not enough power. Since the inverter tells the throttle how much power it needs, wasted noise and gas are eliminated. Basically it does not feel like...

Excellent Generator
The previous review on this generator is correct. It is quiet and it is a very good gas saver. We use our generator for a 250 watt average load. With that load, the economy saver feature on this generator allows its 0.6 gallon tank to last a little over 12 hours!! It is extremely quiet, just slightly louder than that of a good refridgerator. Why the 4-star rating? The Yamaha website doesn't appear to be too up-to-date on Yamaha Generator Service Shops. When we got our generator, it had a bad seal on it and the oil leaked out. When we looked on the Yamaha website, it showed two dealers in our area that fixed these generators. Neither one would take it. They said they stopped working on generators. I ended up having to drive over to the next town where the dealer told me that most dealers do not like to take generators unless they sold it to you themselves. So, while I got lucky and found someone that would take it. Just be...

quiet and easy to use
I wanted a smaller generator than the one built into my RV to save on gas and operate quieter. this little yamaha did the trick. I use a 50 foot extension cord and run it to my rv through the window. It can power my computer, battery chargers, and small appliances on its quiet, low power setting. I barely hear when it is running on low power if it is 50 feet from the RV. Uses only 1/2 gallon of gas if i run it all day. but you do need to go to a local Yamaha dealer and get the proper oil. make sure you read the instructions for this or you will burn out the motor.

If you really want a quiet generator...
I uncrated my new generator, filled the battery with the supplied electrolyte, filled the crankcase with oil, added some gas and turned the key. Started very easily and was amazed at how quiet it was running. 12 hp engines arent usually quiet. Plugged in a fan and a air compressor to test it out. I was expecting it to rev up or make more noise, it never even winced. My central a/c kicked on about forty feet away and was louder than this geneator with me standing next to it. Yamaha nailed this one, I am very happy with it. cons: heavy 194 lbs ( but rolls very easily ) no 12v output connection ( would be nice, but not a deal breaker for me ) remote start should be standard on this model not an added option expensive ( If you want quiet its gonna cost ) shipping : was free, but the freight company ran the forks through the box, covered it up with packing tape. cracked the rear housing just below both handles. If it didnt run so good...

Plenty of power
I purchased this generator from a local camper dealer about 3 years ago so we could camp in the parking lot at our kids colleges. The electric start is a nice feature and if I was to buy another one I would get it with the remote START/STOP feature. I found a place that I can order it to add to mine. There is enough power to run one AC, any lights you want, TV, water pump all at the same time. Fuel consumption is very low. I haven't clocked the hours per tank, but we take it to a state part in Connecticut where there is no power at all and can get through 3 or 4 days on a tank full. There is also a option to add a propane fuel supply. This is also one of the quietest generators I have heard in the campgrounds. You can stand right beside the unit and have a normal conversation. I wish Yamaha would make a model to install in my 5er so I didn't have to load it into the truck. It's a bit heavy so I am going to add a hoist to my garage to help with the loading now that the kids are no...
Excellent Generator
I am very happy with this generator, does everything I hoped for, and more. The hardest part was installing the battery, made me nervous filling battery with acid. But, following the instructions it went without a hitch. I thought they forgot to include the battery strap since it was not on the battery when I took it out of generator. But, I found it lying in the battery compartment way in the back. So check if you do not see yours, it is a rubber strap. Adding the oil is a little tricky, I bought a funnel that twist around for the job. The motor wants to RUN..... after gassing up I hardly pulled the cord and it took off. I let it run for 30 minutes to charge the battery. I shut it off, and restarted it using battery power, again it took off like a shot. In the mean time I installed a transfer switch on my furnace, a couple days later. Testing the generator on the furnace I hooked up the generator, again it took off like a shot. It ran my furnace with no labor what so ever. I am ready...
Yamaha EF3000iSE 3,000 Watt Generator
I highly recommend this product. I got this generator after Hurricanes Frances & Jeanne hit our state, knocked out our power for 10 days. The first generator I got out of desperation, it was hot and we lost a refrigerator full of food...this generator was horribly loud & I knew it would be a matter of time before the neighbors complained. Thankfully I was able to sell it the following day and I immediately ordered 2- Yamaha 3000 generators, I own a duplex so the neighbor had to get one too. Wow, what a huge difference! Even with 2 generators going at once it was much quieter than my vacuum cleaner. I was able to connect my refrigerator, TV, a standing lamp and a window AC (5,000watt) unit for nighttime use. When Jeanne hit everyone in Lighthouse Point FL seemed to have purchased those ear busting generators! Needless to say I am very happy and pleased with my Yamaha generators. When Wilma hit in 2005 we were out of power for nearly 2 weeks and those...

drew conventioneers to the 310-booth exhibit floor. While many folks wondered
why players such as Adobe (Audition DAW software), Loud Technologies (Mackie)
and Sony didn’t make the trip, there was plenty to keep the 16,000 or so visitors
occupied.
From the
start, it was hard to miss the Avid
exhibit. The company rolled out version 10 of its industry standard Pro Tools
workstation. The new version boasts Clip Gain, allowing individual clips
recorded at different times and settings to all start out at the same level.
Pro Tools is available as software only for the Mac and Windows, or in the HDX
configuration with dedicated cards handling up to 256 audio tracks per card.
Only a
few other workstation manufacturers peppered the exhibit floor, including
Samplitude Pro-X from Magix, the
veteran Pyramix from Merging
Technologies and Harrison’s
MixBus, easily the best bargain on the floor at $150, with the tonality of a
Harrison console mated with an open-source audio engine.
Many
mixers on display were primarily for music recording and complicated commercial
mixing, but a number of manufacturers were happy to show off radio broadcast-style
consoles.
